Maiia (Grade 10, Russia) shares her unforgettable experience at MUN in the U.S., from meeting ambitious young minds to immersing herself in Boston’s university atmosphere.

For me, trips to America have been some of the most memorable experiences with school. This is my second year attending the conference, and I have never regretted it.

Last year, one of the students told me that I absolutely must participate in MUN at least once in my life, as the experience would be life-changing. At the time, I was quite skeptical. Now, I realize just how right she was.

This conference is an incredible opportunity to meet a diverse group of intelligent and ambitious young people from all over the world, develop skills in information analysis and debate, and immerse yourself in the vibrant university atmosphere that defines Boston.

If you have the chance to attend MUN in America, you should absolutely take it—I guarantee you won’t regret it!

Ms. Barrett, our English teacher, reflects on the trip to the MUN conference at MIT to which she accompanied our students.

Yet another memorable trip with the wonderful students of Surval Montreux who were outstanding ambassadors for the school at this year’s MUN conference ran by MIT. The countless hours of hard work preparing position papers and researching different countries’ standpoints on issues of ‘Tech Diplomacy’ more than paid off for the students, some of whom even surprised themselves with what they were capable of achieving. As always they brought their passion and energy to every part of the experience, making friends and oftentimes pushing themselves out of their comfort zones.

Beyond the conference, we were lucky to tour three of the most prestigious colleges in the world: MIT, Harvard and Wellesley, each as uniquely inspiring as the next. The girls also visited the Boston Museum of Fine arts, the Boston Library and (most importantly) Target.

They returned to school on a real high, with great memories and enough Takis to last until the end of term! I remain grateful to teach such hardworking and resilient young women and to have been part of their adventure ‘across the pond’.
