At our all girls international boarding school, we are dedicated to providing a holistic and enriching educational experience. Our diverse enrichment program offers students a wide range of opportunities to enhance their personal and academic growth. From engaging in vibrant societies and clubs within our school community to participating in immersive French language days each term, our students have the chance to expand their horizons and foster cultural understanding. Our optional weekend trips throughout Europe provide cultural immersion, while day trips across Switzerland offer unforgettable alpine experiences and town visits. Moreover, our annual residential trips further enrich the educational journey, allowing students to explore new horizons, forge lifelong friendships, and create lasting memories. At our school, we believe in nurturing well-rounded individuals ready to embrace the world with confidence and curiosity.

Residential Trips at Surval

With our home being in the heart of Europe, Surval is perfectly positioned from which to experience and explore our continent, and touring with Surval is the ultimate way to do so!

We are proud of the amazing group travel opportunities we offer our students, and unforgettable journeys of diversity and discovery which enhance and enrich Survalienne life.

 

For 2024-25, Surval’s international trips itinerary includes :

  • 12 - 16 September Swiss Tour: Kickstarting the school year with Tour de Suisse, taking in Locarno, Lucerne, Rhine Falls, Zurich and Interlaken.
  • 19 - 26 October Half Term:  Iceland, often nicknamed ‘The Land of Fire and Ice’, offers you the adventure of a lifetime! Exploring and discovering an unspoilt and surreal landscape with active volcanoes,  amazing flora and fauna in one of the world's leading nations for sustainable energy. Visit the extraordinary mineral-rich pools of the Blue Lagoon, gaze upon the stunning waterfalls of Gullfoss, and take in the  incredibly impressive sight of the Sólheimajökull glacier. This promises to be an unforgettable experience.

  • 28 November - 1st December Vienna Christmas Market Weekend: Getting into the festive spirit with a magical weekend away in Austria’s capital; where you will discover its beautiful squares transformed into magical Christmas markets. The wonderland atmosphere alone is worth the visit, whilst the stunningly decorated streets also make for excellent Christmas shopping.

  • 25 January - 1 February Ski Week/February Ski Weekends: Hitting the slopes during Surval Ski Week, this is an entire week dedicated to skiing and snow fun activities. Ski Weekends are also offered from January to March to Verbier, Griments and Saas Fee, making the most of our snowy Swiss alpine location.

  • Boston MUN: Board a plane and take flight for Logan International Airport where you will spend 4 days exploring the historic city of Cambridge. Touring the famous Harvard University Campus and joining the hundreds of thousands of students globally each year who take part in Model United Nations events. Held at the world renowned MIT students engage in critical debates designed to replicate a real life sitting of the United Nations in session. An experience you will never forget.

Week 1 22 - 29 March Italy

  • Making use of our proximity to Italy, take the opportunity to explore this beautiful country: famous not only for its glorious landscapes, rich history and vibrant culture, but also for the Italian divine food that is a perfect fit for everyone!

Week 2 29 March - 5 April Spain

Next stop Spain, a multinational and incredibly diverse country and one of the most visited in the world, each one of its regions with its own culture that you can immerse yourself in. Amazing attractions at every turn, including high mountain ranges and miles of beautiful beaches: our difficulty will be choosing which impressive City to tour! 

  • 18 - 21 April Paris Easter Trip The actress Audrey Hepburn famously said, ‘Paris is always a good idea’; and Spring is a particularly magical time to go. Only three hours away by train from Montreux, Paris offers something for everyone. From thrilling iconic bucket list attractions like the Eiffel Tower to picture-perfect picnics in beautiful parks or on the scenic banks of the Seine River, and with so many interesting and fun places to explore and discover.

  • 28 May - 2 June Copenhagen Spring Trip: Copenhagen sets itself apart as an extraordinarily unique city, mixing royal history, modern architecture, and centuries worth of culture into a destination known for its sustainable way of living and legendary gastronomic endeavours. Regularly ranked as one of the world's 'happiest' cities, Copenhagen will lift the spirits of everyone who visits.

  • 7 - 8 June Europa Park Trip: Ending the year thrill-seeking at Europe’s largest amusement park; this action-packed two-day trip is a fitting finale to our year of travel abroad.

Societies and Clubs

Our daily after-school societies and clubs offer students the chance to collaborate, make an impact both within and beyond our school, and develop essential leadership and teamwork skills. 

  • Charity Society: Collaborate with local charities to make a positive impact on our community through various volunteer initiatives and fundraising events.
  • Student Voice: Empower students to have a say in shaping school policies and activities, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility in school life.
  • Digital Media Society: Create and curate content for our school journal, allowing students to develop their digital media skills while showcasing the talents and achievements of our school community.
  • Environmental Society: Promote sustainability and environmental awareness through projects aimed at preserving our natural surroundings, such as tree planting, waste reduction campaigns, and educational workshops.
  • Events and Etiquette Society: Organize termly events that bring the entire school together, emphasizing the importance of etiquette and teamwork while fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie. These events provide valuable opportunities for students to develop leadership skills and work collaboratively.

Sports and Wellbeing

At our school, we place a strong emphasis on sports and well-being to ensure our students have a healthy and balanced lifestyle. On-campus, we offer a variety of sporting facilities, including a tennis court, a gym, and a dance studio, allowing students to engage in physical activities that suit their interests and abilities. Furthermore, our proximity to the forest offers excellent opportunities for hiking and connecting with nature. We also provide external opportunities such as sailing, horseback riding, golf, and swimming, tailoring the experience to each student's requests. During the winter months, we take advantage of the stunning Alpine surroundings by offering winter sports activities with professional ski instructors. This ensures that students not only enjoy the snow but also make significant progress in their skiing or snowboarding skills.   • Historical Town Visits: Explore the rich culture and heritage of Switzerland with day excursions to picturesque towns like Zurich, Bern, Geneva, Lausanne, and Basel, where students can wander through historical old towns and immerse themselves in the local culture.

  • Museum Experiences: Delve into Switzerland's heritage with visits to renowned museums, including the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, the Caillers Chocolate Factory, the Gruyères factory, and the Lindt chocolate factory. These excursions provide an educational and delicious insight into the country's history and craftsmanship.

  • Art and Culture: Enrich your cultural knowledge by exploring art museums like the Beyeler Museum in Basel, where students can appreciate world-class art collections and exhibitions, fostering an appreciation for the arts.

  • Nature Excursions: Take advantage of Switzerland's stunning alpine surroundings with nature excursions to iconic destinations like the Jungfrau and Glacier 3000. These trips provide breathtaking views and unforgettable experiences in the heart of the Swiss Alps, allowing students to connect with nature and appreciate its beauty.
