Winter Wonderland in the Swiss Alps
Ski Week at Surval is more than just a school trip—it’s a beloved tradition, an adventure, and an opportunity for our students to push their limits while embracing the beauty of the Swiss Alps. Each year, our entire school, along with our Winter Campers, heads to Anzère, where the crisp mountain air and breathtaking landscapes set the stage for an unforgettable week of skiing, snowboarding, and winter fun.
From the moment we arrived, the excitement was palpable. The girls had the option to choose between skiing and snowboarding, with many taking the opportunity to try the other sport for a day to see if they’d enjoy it. Whether it was a student putting on ski boots for the first time, a snowboarder mastering their turns, or an experienced skier tackling a challenging run, everyone had their own goals to conquer. Guided by expert instructors from ESS Montreux Riviera and Anzère Ski School, the girls honed their skills on the slopes, growing in confidence with each descent.
For those looking for a different kind of adventure, there was plenty more to enjoy! Afternoons saw students lacing up their skates for ice skating sessions, gliding across the rink with friends, or trekking through snowy trails on a snowshoeing excursion, soaking in the serene beauty of the Alps.

Ski Week isn’t just about outdoor sports—it’s about personal growth, resilience, and camaraderie. The week pushed students out of their comfort zones, teaching them the value of perseverance, teamwork, and embracing new challenges. Evenings were filled with laughter and storytelling, as the girls bonded over shared experiences, warming up with Swiss hot chocolate after a thrilling day in the snow.
The grand finale of the week was the much-anticipated friendly ski competition, where students showcased their progress and celebrated their achievements. The event ended with a medal ceremony, where each ski instructor recognized the hard work, determination, and progress of their students. Seeing the smiles, the sense of pride, and the genuine joy of accomplishment was truly special.
