Trips and Excursions

Vienna, you stole our hearts!

10 December 2024

Our students spent a wonderful weekend in Vienna, exploring its beautiful architecture and festive Christmas markets. Below is a blog written by our Grade 10 student, sharing her experience of this magical trip.

The students of Surval Montreux set off on a journey to Vienna, which is famous for its Christmas market.

They went on Thursday and their first excursion was a tour of the Belvedere Museum. The girls were not indifferent to the extraordinary beauty of this stunning palace and took great pleasure in viewing The Kiss by the Austrian painter Gustav Klimt.

While the group wandered around the vicinity of the Wiener Staatsoper, shopping and sightseeing. Quite a number of evenings were unscheduled and allowed the students to select their own restaurants and taste genuine Austrian dishes.

The students also learned how to prepare Sachertorte thanks to a very supportive team from an Austrian bakery who made sure that they made the best cakes.
The students also went to the Vienna State Opera and two Christmas markets. Such markets offered Yuletide glassware, appetizing food, and amusements such as an ice rink and roller coasters. But the girls especially liked the go-kart rides.

One student said: “Vienna is fabolous. The architecture is really beautiful, the Christmas markets are so decorated, and everyone we met is nice. I hope to come back some time.”
