During Surval’s first school trip, the girls embarked on an unforgettable journey amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Switzerland.
The trip’s first destination was Ascona, a charming city nestled in Ticino, the southern Italian-speaking region of Switzerland. The girls enjoyed a scenic boat tour on Lake Maggiore and had the opportunity to learn the art of making their own pasta, which many girls agreed was the best part of their trip. One of our junior girls said, “It was incredible to be able to learn and make our own pasta, I think I enjoyed that the most.”
After Ticino, on the way to the next destination, we decided to take a detour to explore the natural beauty and wildlife at Goldau Nature Park. The girls had an enriching experience learning about various animals, such as bears, deer, and wolves.
Upon reaching the second destination, Zurich, the girls had an opportunity to explore the part of the city independently. Not far from there, the girls took a day trip to Rhyfall Mändli, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Switzerland! As the girls neared the area, they also had the chance to partake in an adventure at Rheinfall adventure park, featuring an incredible ziplining experience.
As the tour drew to an end, the girls were treated to a delightful day trip to Lucerne, where they had the freedom to explore and taste the delightful cuisine that Switzerland has to offer, sampling raclette, fondue and muesli. Following this, the girls ventured to the enchanting St. Beatus Caves, where they were captivated by the natural wonders found within the Swiss caves.
Over the course of four days, the girls had the opportunity to explore three distinct regions of Switzerland, immersing themselves in the traditional city life as well as the serene natural landscapes of the country. They also had a chance to get to know each other more; many of the girls had barely met before the trip, but the Swiss tour brought them together. One of our sophomore students, Maiia Sokolova, said, “I knew only really knew one part of Switzerland because we live on the French side, and before going I really wanted to see other parts of Switzerland, I also wanted to see the other parts of the girls, not just the academic side I wanted to get to know them as people. I think it’s really good that I got to do that because I really got to know the people the way they are on the inside!”
