A Lifelong Connection with Surval: From Student to Ambassador

We are proud to introduce Amalia (1995, Mexico), a remarkable Survalienne, who embodies the spirit of Surval in every aspect of her life.

I came to Surval in 1995. During my time at the school, I studied Liberal Arts and French Language and experienced so many happy moments, amazing memories of true friendship and fun trips. The sisterhood that began that unforgettable year, is still so strong, that my fellow Survaliennes and I travel together each year. Surval taught me much about the world, it gave me the ability to open up to the different cultures, explore creativity in a unique way and introduced me to friends from across the globe. It was during my stay at Surval, in the Liberal Arts Program, that I became certain about pursuing a creative career.

During the next years I went to Business and Marketing School, in Mexico and abroad. Later I specialized in Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

The creativity that bloomed at Surval was always there. Today, as a founder of Malia Joyeria, a jewelry design brand that sells worldwide, I am passionate about entrepreneurship, innovation and connecting with others. I enjoy working every day, in the Jewelry Design company I founded 22 years ago.

In 2017, I reconnected with Surval and since then, I became a Surval Ambassador.

As a Surval Ambassador, I represent the school everywhere I go, it is very natural since it is part of my life. I also recommend families and help them through the process of knowing the school, enrolling their daughters, and help them during their process.  For parents, this is very reassuring. I am like a bridge between Surval and the parents.

I also have had the opportunity to return to the school as a masterclass jewelry teacher. It has been an amazing experience to give back to the school that inspired me to become a Jewelry designer. During the Jewelry master class I teach, the girls develop their creativity, make a whole jewelry collection and find meaning for each piece.

Since I still travel with my fellow Survaliennes, and attend the Alumnae events where we enjoy sharing our stories and memories. Survaliennes from many generations and backgrounds, we reminisce on out time at the school and share where we are now in our lives. Its extraordinary how it feels like we have known each other forever. The Surval spirit is always there. At the end of the day, it all comes from the heart of Surval.

I truly believe that once a Survalienne, always a Survalienne.
